The new Washington State Law (effective for the 2013-2014 school year) requiring all high school students to have CPR/AED instruction poses a huge logistical challenge for schools. We can help. Details of House Bill 1556:

1) School districts that operate a high school must offer instruction in CPR in at least one health class required for graduation.

2) The instruction must be through a program developed by the American Heart Association or other nationally recognized organization.

3) The program must include hands-on training in addition to cognitive learning.

4) The program must include information on how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator). It is acceptable to deliver this content by video.

5) The program need not be taught by a CPR instructor; certification cards do not need to be issued.
