Adult one-rescuer CPR and AED demonstration
During your American Heart Association Heartsaver adult CPR and first aid training at CPR Tacoma, you will learn how to preform one rescuer CPR on an adult.
First, make sure the scene is safe.
Next, check for response
Yell for help.
Designate someone to call 911 and to get an AED.
Check for breathing (as you will learn in your CPR training at CPR Tacoma, gasping is not breathing). Check for breathing for 5, but no more than 10 seconds.
If there is no breathing, move clothing out of the way. Place the heel of your hand on the lower half of the breast bone.
Deliver your first set of compression making sure to push the chest down at least 2 inches.
Administer two breaths to the patient.
Continue giving sets of 30 compressions and two breaths until the AED, or Emergency Medical Services arrives.
Immediately turn on the AED and follow the voice prompts.
