CPR First Aid & AED Classes
Adult, child, infant CPR and first aid at CPR Tacoma will prepare you for dealing with life threatening emergencies seen in patients of all ages. You will learn the most current CPR protocol, how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) for all ages, and how to relieve choking. CPR classes at CPR Tacoma provide plenty of hands on practice. Each student receives their own manikin for the duration of class which allows the necessary time needed to feel comfortable with CPR compressions and breathing.
The first aid portion of the class teaches students how to recognize serious illness or injury in a breathing patient. The first part of the first aid course addresses medical emergencies. The signs and symptoms of potentially life-threatening emergencies such as diabetes, stroke, heart attack, and shock are discussed in detail. Next, injury emergencies are addresses. Specific recommendations on first aid procedures are given for bleeding, burns, electrocution, as well as sprains and strains. Environmental emergencies are covered in the final part of the first aid course. Students learn the correct first aid protocol needed to deal with snake bites, spider bites, hypothermia, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and animal bites.
